The Quintin Boat Club - Club House Renovation

Client Quintin Boat Club / Location Chiswick Sports grounds / Value £250k / Dates 2018 - 2019 / Status Completed

  • In 2018 in parallel to the more extensive commission of the planning application for the new boathouse and associated facilities, AST undertook the small but wonderful task of rennovating the QBC club room. The bright and spacious double height space had been used extensively by members of the boat club and guests and displayed a fascinating array of rowing memorabilia. The space itself however was in need of a facelift in order to do justice to the display.

  • AST undertook its design and specification, carefully selecting a new colour palette and ensuring that original features such as the fireplace and bar were sesitively refurbished. New doors and windows were suitably designed  whille the existing timber floors were stripped back and refinished. The external balcony, the premium spot from which to view the finishing line of the annual Oxford vs Cambridge boat race, received new balustrating inspired by the motion of oars through the water. Once complete, a selection of the boating artifacts were composed and installed as the finishing touches.

  • The space is refreshed and rejuvinated and provides a bright new backdrop to all of QBCs events. Further rennovations elsewhere are expected in due course while a lauch party which had been anticipated during for 2020 and was postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, is expected to take place later this year. We look forward to it immensely!
